Browsing and saved places
You can browse without an account. Downloaded pages, preferences and phone-only saved places stay on your device. Our servers receive requests needed to load places and photographs; hosting services may record request metadata such as your IP address.
Optional accounts
When you sign in, we store your provider identifier, name, email address and profile image when supplied by your sign-in provider, together with your LaoDee account identifier and sessions. We use these to authenticate you and sync your saved places.
Location and photographs
Nearby discovery uses your location when you grant permission; nearby searches can send coordinates to our API. You can browse without granting it. If you contribute a photograph, we receive that photograph, its selected coordinates, caption and your account identifier. The private original may retain GPS metadata for moderation. Public image copies have their embedded metadata removed.
Contributions stay private until a moderator approves them. Approved photographs and their place information can be public. Reports and blocks are used to review content and prevent abuse. External sharing sends the image and caption to the app you choose; that service handles the shared copy under its own policy.
Services and analytics
Hosting, image storage, sign-in and map services process the requests needed to provide LaoDee. Map providers receive map requests. If enabled, our self-hosted analytics records app interactions using an allowlist that excludes names, email addresses, photo contents and exact coordinates. LaoDee does not use advertising tracking.
Retention and deletion
Account data and contributions remain until removed. Deleting your account removes its profile, sessions, synced saves and authored photo entries from the active database. Unshared photo files are queued for background removal, with retries after storage failures. Media also referenced by the place catalogue is preserved. Phone-only saves and copies shared to other services remain outside your account.
Backups and operational records may persist after active data is removed. Contact us for questions about retained data or to request deletion.
